The iron railing I built for this house took me 102 hours to complete. All the scroll work was hand forged. One obstacle was meeting the building code which demands no opening bigger than a 4 inch circle be found anywhere in the railing. The man in the picture is the carpenter who built the stair case. He is very precise.
The photo on the right is a close up of the hand rail on the railing to the left. The bushings on the railing are formed hot out of 1" pipe and polished on a lathe.
